Rabbi Zvi Solomons obtained his first degree from Cambridge in Archaeology, his second degree from Reading in land management, and finally found his true calling as an orthodox rabbi, gaining Semicha (ordination) from Jews College in 2000. He has worked as a rabbi / Jewish communal professional / educator for more than three decades, teaching Judaism to diverse audiences. Along with his work in schools, he currently serves as the rabbi for Jewish Community of Berkshire, a small, inclusive orthodox community in Reading.

He has chaired Reading SACRE and has served on multiple SACREs in Berkshire and the North West, and is widely respected for his deep knowledge of process and governance.  He currently serves as the Judaism representative on SACRE for Reading and West Berks councils.

Since 2015, Rabbi Zvi has dedicated his working life to interfaith education, serving as the lead educator of JCoB Education (now Teach RE Judaism). In this role, he has brought Jewish learning to some 100,000 children of all faiths and none, all across England and Wales.  Known for his engaging style, Rabbi Zvi brings Jewish traditions to life for children and adults alike, often using interactive demonstrations to make learning memorable. His leadership and advocacy have helped safeguard fair representation in RE syllabuses.

Shira began her career as an academic economist (earning her doctorate from Harvard in 1997) but moved into full-time Jewish community work in 2004, running a successful cheder (Jewish religion school) in Reading for many years. She is a leading voice on the importance of Judaism in Religious Education, serving on SACREs in Wokingham and Bracknell Forest, and working extensively with schools to deliver authentic learning about Judaism. Since 2015 she has run JCoB Education (now Teach RE Judaism), helping to design and organise Judaism learning experiences for tens of thousands of pupils in all key stages, and advising teachers. Shira is passionate about ensuring Judaism is taught authentically, and she has been instrumental in challenging inappropriate syllabi working alongside the Hindu community to safeguard fair representation of minority faiths in RE. She is the coordinator of the Association of Jewish Religious Education Professionals, and spoke at AREIAC in June 2026 on the importance of authentic inquiry questions in the study of Judaism in RE. Shira also serves as the Rebbetzin and community director at the Jewish Community of Berkshire in Reading.
